Cannabis Cure Logs and Lot Tracking: A Recordkeeping SOP

Record curing checks, container openings, lot identity and team actions in one consistent log. Keep recordkeeping separate from deciding when to open a container.

Burp Logs & Cure Inventory SOP: How Commercial Growers Eliminate Guesswork

This SOP focuses on records, lot identification and team handoffs. To decide when a container needs a check or opening, use the separate condition-based burping guide.

A record for every lot and container

A burp log records observations, opening and resealing events, and the next action. Keep it with the lot so another shift can see what happened without relying on memory.

Copyable cure-room log

Date / time Lot / container RH / temperature Moisture sample and % Observation / action Operator / next check
________ ________ ________ ________ ________ ________

Keep RH, temperature and material moisture readings in separate fields. Include the meter or sensor ID, sample type and method. An unmeasured impression should be recorded as an observation, not as a moisture measurement.

Example entry

Illustrative example, not a target: Lot A / container A-03. Check completed at 09:10 by Operator 1. Sensor ID H-02; separate flower sample record M-07. No opening performed. Observations reviewed against the site procedure. Next check assigned to Operator 2. Record actual readings and times in your own log.

Five-step shift handover

  1. Identify: record lot, container, fill date, location and responsible operator.
  2. Observe: record the measurement, unit, device and method. Keep stem and flower samples distinct.
  3. Act: document the reason for any opening, resealing, transfer or hold.
  4. Verify: record closure condition and the follow-up check. If something is outside your process limits, route it to the responsible person.
  5. Hand over: assign the next check and make the record available with the inventory location.

Keep lot identity through transfers

When moving flower to another container, record the source and destination IDs, quantity, time and operator. Keep the original history. Follow your lot-separation and quality procedure before combining material.

Use a hold status for exceptions

Condensation, unexpected odor, visible changes or unexplained measurement trends need assessment. Identify and hold the affected lot under your quality procedure. Logging or burping does not establish that a batch is free of mold.

Choose the next check

Use the burping schedule and observation guide for decisions about checking and opening. For consistent measurements, see the moisture meter sampling procedure and hygrometer placement guide.

Label the packaging too

Record the selected bag size or liner format with the container ID. If you are using CurePak curing bags, keep each bag's lot label readable through handling and pack-out. Retain logs according to your traceability and quality procedure.
